Volunteering with IMA Museum
IMA MUSEUM Volunteer Opportunities:
- Serve as an IMA - Volunteer in the Museum and/or at the Sculpture Park.
Work in the Museum, Tuesday through Sunday, several days per season, or one day per week, or one day every other week 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Work at the Sculpture Park welcome booth, several days per season, or one day per week, or one day every other week 10:00-4:00 p.m. (See Sculpture page for more opportunities) - IMA Museum Docent Volunteer for Exhibitions
Each year the Museum sponsors 4-5 Exhibitions and/or events. During the changeover time period, moving one exhibition out and another exhibition in, volunteers are needed to assist in the gallery spaces. Time Commitment: 1-2 days per year, 2-4 hours per day. - IMA Museum Store Management Assistance
The IMA Museum Store receives merchandise, needs stocking, requires inventory, and spatial interior design. Time commitment: 1-4 days per season, 2-4 hours per day. Time is flexible. - IMA Museum Hosting Coordination of Visiting Artists and Jurors
Museum Exhibition Openings involve the hosting of the artist(s), and or juror(s). Private guest cottages, Island B/B's and hotels are donated. This coordination opportunity is ideal for the person whose time commitments are varied and limited. Time commitment: 3-4 hours – one time per year. Schedule Board of Directors, Members, Advisors, Strategic Advisors, and others to put up the Booth; to design the Booth; and to cover the IMA Booth at the County Fair. Time commitment: 3-4 hours per year, Time is somewhat flexible. - IMA Community Group Presentations Coordination
Track and schedule Community Group Presentations annually. Time: 1-2 hours commitment monthly - IMA Media Calendar Updates, Press Release Tracking, Cataloging
Update and maintain on-line and print calendars of IMA events. Send out, collect and track Press Release information. Time: 3-4 hours commitment monthly. - Serve on the IMA Museum Exhibition and Program Committee.
- Serve on the IMA Advisory Board, the IMA Board of Directors, or the Community Outreach Board.
- Assist as an artist or an educator in the in the "Artists in the Schools - K-12 Program" for 20011-12
- Lead or work on the Marketing Task Force for IMA.
- Edit, write and produce the IMA On-Line Newsletter.
- Organize and/or chair IMA Membership Services.
- Write grants and develop "grantsmanship" strategies for IMA.
- Chair Exhibition and "Art as a Voice" receptions for openings and develop an active Committee.
- Assist in the IMA Office, 232 A St. #5, with reception, office help, and mailings.
- Represent IMA with a Community Organization, i.e. Chamber of Commerce, Visitors Bureau, Artstock, Studio Tours, the Community Theatre, the San Juan Island School District, Spring Street School, Gallery and Business Owners, Artists, Soroptimists, Lions, Rotary, Preservation Trust, or Brick Works.
- Serve on the Capital Campaign for 2012-13.
