About the Event

Reflection Portrait

Kindling Creativity Series

A close-up of a mixed-media portrait on a collaged newspaper-background canvas panel, depicting a woman with dark hair, warm brown eyes, and gold drop earrings, rendered in soft acrylic and pencil tones with handwritten script in Italian flowing across the upper right — alongside a blue colored pencil and a white paint pen, showing the layered style and finished artwork of the Reflection Portrait class at SJIMA.

CLASS DESCRIPTION

In this 4 hour class, you will create and bring home with you a mixed-media portrait that is an expression of you and of what you love. You will use acrylic paints on canvas panel, along with collage papers to add layers, texture and color to your work. Then you’ll draw a portrait, free hand or using stencils, or a combination of both. You’ll add words and a few finishing touches to your work using watercolor pencils and paint pens.
