About the Event

What happens when we come together to create a collective artwork that is both vast and intimate?

Alison Stigora is a site-specific artist whose work explores relationships between physical spaces, materials and the body. Often using found and natural objects, her work evokes awareness of human scale within the expanse of the natural and constructed world. Emphasizing transformation of familiar materials, Stigora creates worlds simultaneously vast and intimate, inviting viewers to pause and notice themselves and their environment in new ways.

Inspired by the site specific works of Alison Stigora, teaching artists Amy Plant and Alice Hibberd lead Woven World, a hands-on workshop for adults and youth. Participants will create an experimental collective installation in a space outside the museum, and the challenge is to make, in a short space of time, a collective artwork that is both vast and intimate, manipulating familiar materials.
