About the Event
ACTION FIGURES
People in sports. Paint freehand or with templates.
The Olympics took place in spite of the pandemic. It is a major accomplishment of the ever feisty human spirit. Yet the spirit or soul inhabits a body! What a delight it was to watch the human bodies of the gymnasts, skateboarders and surfers define gravity and the rest of the laws of physics! It's good to be human. One can do so much with one's body. This project is about the excitement and magic of sports. And how wonderful it is that if we can't do gymnastics ourselves, we can always draw and paint it. We can inspire others to be in sports!
Always remember that there is nothing wrong with using the templates. The books of angel templates were specifically published for the artists to use already 500 hundred years ago. Your creativity will shine in the way you put it all together in your painting. The templates for this project feature female gymnasts. It's a good way to explore movement. When you are done with this project, you might be looking forward to painting people in other sports, too. The next logical step will be to paint male sportsmen figures. You shall, also, feel confident about doing it all in freehand without any templates.
MATERIALS provided by SJIMA: poster board sized 11 by 17 inches, acrylic paints, inspirational images, a prototype, and templates.
MATERIALS found in one's household: pencils, scissors, paintbrushes(hopefully, saved from the previous projects).
Family Art Days offer the community free, imaginative projects for children with their family members.
Inspired by SJIMA’s Fall exhibitions on the human figure September 24 - December 6, Family Art Days (FAD) art pact pick-ups are on Saturdays beginning October 2 - December 18.
