Join us on Wednesday, March 18 at 6 PM at the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for an artist talk with Janis Miltenberger, whose exhibition Productive Uncertainty is on view in the North Gallery from March 6 through June 1, 2026. This artist talk is free and open to the public; no RSVP or tickets are required.
Miltenberger’s fragile, intricate glasswork reflects her lifelong engagement with nature, science, and storytelling. Viewing her work as allegory, she weaves fables and parables into sculptural form—inviting audiences to discover universal themes and personal meaning through light, texture, and narrative.
During this talk, Miltenberger will discuss the three thematic groupings in her exhibition: Works in Blue, grief-related wall pieces; The Doctrine of Signatures, inspired by medicinal plants and the body’s healing connections; and An Intimate Area, featuring large standing sculptures.
