FEBRUARY 5 TAKE-HOME ART PACKS: FROM TRASH TO ART

This project was inspired by a piece in the 2022 Artists’ Registry called “Repulsion Propulsion” by Stephen O’Melveny. He used wire and plastic water bottles (as well as paint) to turn trash into art!

Trashion is a term for art, jewelry, fashion, and objects for the homemade from used, thrown-out, found, and repurposed items and has become a style of art since the 1990s. While the term “trashion” was first coined in New Zealand in 2004, the practice of taking trash and turning it into art has been around for almost as long as there has been trash!
