Discover the depth and diversity of San Juan County’s artistic talent this winter.

The San Juan Islands Museum of Art (SJIMA) is proud to present the 2025–26 Artists’ Registry Show, on view December 12, 2025 through February 23, 2026. This beloved annual exhibition fills all three museum galleries—Nichols, North, and Atrium—with works from artists who call San Juan County home. With over 100 participating artists representing nearly every corner of the visual arts, this year’s exhibition offers an extensive and diverse survey of artistic expression across the islands.

A Showcase of Community Talent

Each winter, the Artists’ Registry Show provides a broad view of the creativity found throughout San Juan County. This year’s exhibition includes artists working in sculpture, textiles, painting, glass, woodwork, and printmaking. It also features pastels, photography, metalwork, drawing, encaustic, pottery, mixed media, assemblage, digital art, jewelry, and additional disciplines. Visitors can expect a true panorama of styles and approaches—reflecting the diversity, innovation, and heart of our island community.

Top right: “A Matter of Time” by Bryn Barnard (Lopez Island), featuring an intricate arrangement of interlocking gears overlaid with astronomical symbols and historical imagery. Bottom left: “Umbel Floret II” by Diana Friend (Stuart Island), showing a delicate, bowl-like natural form composed of pale, textured seed pods. Bottom right: “Tidepool” by Kelly O’Dell (Lopez Island), a luminous glass sculpture resembling a spiraling nautilus shell with swirling layers of green, amber, and blue, displayed on a black stand.

Because participation is open exclusively to SJIMA Artists’ Registry members residing in San Juan County, the show serves as both a celebration of local creativity and a snapshot of the artistic pulse of the islands today. Out of 124 active SJIMA Artists’ Registry members, 114 submitted work this year—a remarkable testament to the strength and engagement of our county’s arts ecosystem.

Artists' Registry Show Interviews Coming in January

During the exhibition period, SJIMA will be recording in-gallery interviews with many of this year’s participating artists. These conversations will offer insight into their creative processes, inspirations, and artistic journeys. We encourage visitors to check back in January on SJIMA.org or the SJIMA YouTube channel to watch this new interview series.
