We’re thrilled to share some exciting news that will help shape the future of arts education in our community. The San Juan Islands Museum of Art (SJIMA) has been selected to participate in the SJI Cares Spring Grant Campaign, a special fundraising initiative hosted by the San Juan Island Community Foundation (SJICF).

This campaign gives our community a chance to directly support impactful local projects—and SJIMA is honored to be one of them!
SJIMA has been awarded a matching grant opportunity of up to $15,000 to enhance our upstairs classroom, an essential space for learning, creativity, and community connection. This grant will allow us to upgrade classroom lighting, furniture, and supplies—creating an environment that better serves students, adults, and families who engage with our growing educational programs.
These improvements will not only support expanded workshop offerings but also help us permanently exhibit artwork by local students, giving young artists a place to shine. With better lighting and display resources, their work will be seen in its best light—literally—and provide inspiration to visitors of all ages. This initiative is part of our broader mission to build deeper community connections and increase engagement with younger families.
The San Juan Island Community Foundation has generously kickstarted the campaign with a $4,000 seed grant, but to reach our full $15,000 goal, we need your help.

Let’s build something beautiful—for our students, for our community, and for the future.
