Make Art Together This Summer! SJIMA’s Family Art Days Return

Updated: Aug 1

FREE hands-on art classes every Saturday from noon to 2 PM!

The San Juan Islands Museum of Art (SJIMA) invites families to join our beloved Family Art Days Summer Series, running July 19 through August 30. Each Saturday, children (ages 5 and up) accompanied by at least one adult can explore creativity together with local artists—all members of the SJIMA Artists’ Registry.

Child wearing a red and blue striped long-sleeve shirt drawing on a colorful hand-painted map with a black marker. The map includes sketches of landmarks, green parks, blue water areas, and labels like “British Museum,” “Camden Town,” and “Ruby Violet.”

Classes are held outdoors in the beautiful orchard next to the museum (weather permitting) or in our upstairs classroom. All materials are provided free of charge by SJIMA.

Class sizes are limited and fill up quickly—RSVP is required so reserve your spot today!

✨ About Family Art Days

An adult and a child wearing blue aprons with the San Juan Islands Museum of Art logo sit at an outdoor table. The adult holds a paintbrush and gestures toward a blank white plate the child is holding up. Paintbrushes and art supplies are spread across the table, and green foliage fills the background.

Family Art Days are designed to spark curiosity and celebrate imagination. Each workshop offers an opportunity to learn approachable, engaging techniques from accomplished local artists who love sharing their skills with young people and their families.

Whether you’re a local or just visiting, Family Art Days are the perfect Saturday activity to connect, create, and be inspired.
